Big Players
Not only are big names in the design field moving to Tumblr — big time publications are as well. [ via Gruber ]

Hicks(re)design
Jon has redesigned his site, this time from scratch. It’s completely fluid and very impressive. I’m going to have to finally dig that ALA article out of Instapaper …

1024 Square →
maniacalrage: Josh Holloway collects (and creates) iPad-specific versions of popular and nice wallpapers. Makes for a great companion site to Prettify. I’ll second that. Josh’s site, along with Jorge’s iPad Decór are my favorite resources for iPad wallpapers.

On Standing and Sitting
For quite some time, I’ve felt somewhat dissatisfied with my office setup. This is mostly due to the fact that I know that I need to spend a portion of my day standing while I work. At the same time, I want to be able to sit when the knees start to complain. I configured my office for such a setup in the past, allowing me to work in either position. The only issue here is that I could...

Site Availability Issues Due to Failed Enhancement...
twitterstatus: Update: We’re currently experiencing site availability issues resulting from the failed enhancement of a new approach to timeline caching. Our infrastructure and operations engineers are currently working to resolve this. We’ll update you soon with an ETA. Buzz anyone?

Kicking the Tires
I finally got around to finishing off a new design for this site, complete with a couple of pages. If you’re usually reading this site from your feed reader or the Dashboard, give it a look in your browser. I’m still kicking the tires and tweaking a few of the post styles. If you have any suggestions or critiques, my apprentice level skills would appreciate hearing them.

No More iTunes by Florian Pichler →
maniacalrage: safariextensions: NoMoreiTunes is an extension for Safari 5 which disables the script that tries to start iTunes when you visit a link to the iTunes Store. It’s annoying and redundant as there is iTunes Preview for Music and Apps now. This is perfect. I have iTunes in a Space in OS X, and clicking on any iTunes Store link in the past would immediately throw me over to that...

EchoSign →
I’ve used EchoSign in the past and it is a great idea — not only for the reduction in paper use, but it also can remove hassles for editing PDFs between two parties. I have no desire at all to install Adobe Reader or Acrobat on my Macbook, so a PDF contract is great for reading, but not for signing. [ via Cameron Moll ]

Another Reason I Love Tumblr
They do more than just work on their product … from time to time they get involved with what’s happening in the world, and do what they can to make things better. It’s not the first time either. Today I donated $5 to enable the “heart-of-BP-executive black” in my Tumblr Dashboard. Each $5 donation is matched by Tumblr and goes to one of three organizations helping to deal with the...

Domainr →
When you need to scour through the domains not already taken by squatters, you want a service that is friendly. Most domain search sites look like they were designed by the squatters themselves, making the entire process a painful experience. Rather, you want something that is clean and easy to navigate. Domainr is just that. [ via chris24 ]

Why an iPad and a Mac mini are my computing future →
Here’s an interesting look at how the iPad is changing people’s expectations for their future computing needs. I’m thinking along the same lines: is my Macbook needed anymore? Currently, yes. But as the iPad evolves — and we know it will, Apple’s past ten years are ample proof of that — I expect I will be able to do more and more creation (aka work) on it. So, while I...
