CodePen

CodePen has really grown on me. A recent creation of Chris Coyier, it’s:

a community of front end folks focused on inspiration and education.

Essentially, it’s an application to share snippets of front end code. HTML, CSS and JS are all included and users can authenticate with their GitHub accounts. From there, you can comment, like, share each entry. Or, you can fork an entry and modify with your own ideas.

It’s been implemented very nicely. An example is how they’ve set the app up for displaying code in a blog post. It’s as easy as hitting the share button, then choosing your desired code for the embed. And this is what you see:

I love this particular aspect of the service. If CodePen catches on, I’d almost call it a Dribbble alternative for front end developers.
