Using iCloud with Multiple Sending Addresses

I made the move to iCloud from Gmail, but also wanted to still use multiple emails from other domains. Here’s how I configured my email setup to handle this.

Thanks to IMAP, changing email clients is almost as easy as changing Twitter clients. I regularly move from Mail.app to Mailplane to Postbox and back to Mail.app whenever the limits of the current client start to bug me enough.

Recently, Postbox version 2 was released. I’m just discovering some of the nice additions that I think are worth mentioning. First off is the Quick Move. It’s similar to the functionality of Mail Act-On, a plug in for Mail.app. Simply select the message(s) in your inbox that you want to move to a folder (label for Gmail junkies), then press ā€˜v’. This invokes the following dialogue.

Type the first few letters of the desired folder and boom. It even looks for folders on different accounts and gives you the account name before the folder. This is some awesome sauce — I love it.

Another nice touch is the Quick Reply feature. Rather than typing CMD + R to reply to a message, you can hit Shift + R and use the following dialogue:

Type in a short reply without opening a separate window, hit CMD + Enter and your email is sent.

Along with some great new features like this, the overall app has had some nice touch ups to the interface. I think I’ll be sticking with Postbox for a while.

Update: More usage has uncovered a couple of other nice additions. Like Gmail, when you type the word attachment or PDF (and probably a few others), the attachment pane opens up and asks if a file should be attached. Unlike Gmail, this occurs immediately, rather than when you send the message. But it’s not intrusive at all, it just pops up and you can continue typing.

Also, like the Quick Move feature, there is a Quick Switch to move from one folder (label) to another. Just hit g and type in the folder name.

Yes, I am smitten.
